MHC Extends Home Buyer Advantage Grant Program

Jackson, MS – June 23, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — The Mississippi Home Corporation (MHC) has extended the reservation period for its Home Buyer Advantage (HBA) grant program. The previous deadline for homebuyers to reserve funds was July 15, but the reservation period has been extended to September 13, 2010. The extended reservation period will allow MHC to disburse an additional $4 million in funds that were injected into the HBA program. Available HBA funds currently stand at $5.5 million, enough to fund an additional 180 reservations based on the average grant amount

BOLTON, MS – June 22, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announced HUD’s $40 million Community Challenge Planning Grant Program, which will foster reform and reduce barriers to achieving affordable, economically vital, and sustainable communities. Such efforts may include amending or replacing local master plans, zoning codes, and building codes, either on a jurisdiction-wide basis or in a specific neighborhood, district, corridor, or sector to promote mixed-use development, affordable housing, the reuse of older buildings and structures for new purposes, and similar activities with the goal of promoting sustainability at the local or neighborhood level. HUD’s Community Challenge Planning Grant Program also supports the development of affordable housing through the development and adoption of inclusionary zoning ordinances and other activities such as acquisition of land for affordable housing projects

Grants up to $40,000 to Help Purchase Foreclosed Properties. Jackson, MS – September 18, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — The Mississippi Home Corporation (MHC) is now taking reservations under its new Home Buyer Advantage grant program. The program will provide grants of up to $40,000 to qualified home buyers who purchase foreclosed properties in any of the 48 eligible communities across Mississippi. Unlike most of MHC’s other programs, the Home Buyer Advantage program does not require applicants to be first-time home buyers. The program limits applicants to those who earn 120% of the Area Median Income or below.
