CONGRESSMAN THOMPSON ANNOUNCES HUD FUNDS AWARDED TO THE SECOND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
BOLTON, MS – August 16, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announced that the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded Economic Development Initiative-Special Purpose funds to the Second Congressional District.
The following FY 2005 Economic Development Initiative-Special Purpose grants have unexpended balances which, by statue, are subject to cancellation if not drawn down and received by grantees prior to the September 30, 2012 deadline. The purpose of EDI grant funds is to further minimize the potential loss of future Community Development Block Grant allocations by:
a. Strengthening the economic feasibility of the projects financed with Section 108 funds (and thereby increasing the probability that the project will generate enough cash to repay the guaranteed loan);
b. Directly enhancing the security of the guaranteed loan; or
c. Through a combination of these or other risk mitigation techniques.
