Coast Contractor Pleads Guilty to Home Repair Fraud

Jackson, MS – February 14, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — A Coast Contractor has been sentenced on charges of Felony Home Repair Fraud, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.

William Wesley Mohr, age 41, of Picayune, MS, appeared before Judge Lisa P. Dotson, Harrison County 2nd Judicial District, on Tuesday, February 8 and plead guilty to Felony Home Repair Fraud.

The Judge sentenced Mohr to 10 years suspended for time served (seven months), five years reporting probation, five years non-reporting probation, $1,000 fine, $500 in investigative expenses, $200 to Victim’s Compensation Fund, court costs and full restitution in the amount of $14,550.00. A minimum of $250 per month must be paid towards restitution and fees starting 60 days from his release.

“We are pleased that the victim in this case will get their money back or the defendant faces a lot more time in jail,” said Attorney General Hood.

Mohr was arrested last year by investigators with the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General’s Office. He came to the Mississippi Gulf Coast from New York, after Hurricane Katrina, doing business under the name Mohr Construction. A Biloxi resident filed a complaint against Mohr with the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General’s Office after giving Mohr $14,550 to provide specific materials and labor for a home being rebuilt to replace a home lost to Hurricane Katrina. The investigation showed that Mohr failed to provide any materials or labor.
