Housing Open House in Amory Will Be One-Stop Source for Rebuilding or Replacing Property Damaged By Tornadoes
CLINTON, MS – July 6, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — A Housing Open House in Amory Saturday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. will bring together state government experts in safe rooms, home financing and insurance, along with builders, bankers, realtors and utilities to advise Monroe County residents whose properties were damaged or destroyed in the April tornadoes.
The event is at the Amory Government Complex, 1619 Highway 25 North, and is sponsored by the Smithville Long-Term Community Recovery Housing Committee.
Disaster survivors are invited to visit the open house at their convenience to talk with any of the participants and seek information pertinent to their individual situations.
Safe room construction will be demonstrated by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency. Other state agencies participating are the Mississippi Home Corporation, the Mississippi Insurance Department and the Mississippi Development Authority Energy Star Program. Representatives of four banks will be there, including experts in loans for “green initiative” rebuilding.
Three real estate agencies will be represented, along with four local contractors who have been approved by the town of Smithville. The Homebuilders and Remodelers Association of Northeast Mississippi also will be present. Representatives of ATMOS Energy Co., the natural gas utility, will be there.
