The Mississippi Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Consortium created by Attorney General Jim Hood begins a second state-wide tour.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 27, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — “I created this consortium so our residents dealing with foreclosure issues could get free counseling and legal assistance, including re-financing and loan modification assistance,” said Attorney General Hood.  “I hope by taking the Consortium across the state that we can better help folks.”

Attorneys and financial counselors with the partnering members of the Consortium will be available to meet one on one with consumers at each of the Free Legal Clinic locations. CLICK HERE to view the locations.

Anyone planning on attending any legal clinic listed above should bring all available paperwork related to their mortgages, including recent notices from their lenders and their mortgage agreements.

The Consortium was created by Attorney General Jim Hood through funding provided under the National Mortgage Settlement with the nation’s five largest mortgage servicers over unacceptable mortgage servicing practices. The foreclosure payments provided under the national settlement affects borrowers who lost their home to foreclosure between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2011.  You do not need to have qualified for the settlement in order to receive help from the AG’s Consortium and free legal clinics listed above.

Consortium partners include: Money Management International, Mississippi Home Corporation, Mississippi Center for Justice,  North Mississippi Rural Legal Services, Mississippi Center for Legal Services and the Mississippi Military Department.

Anyone unable to attend any of the legal clinics listed above can still receive assistance from the Consortium by calling 1-866-530-9572.
